Lukashenka is outcast

Leaders of the European Union have offered hard terms to the president of Ukraine: not to invite Lukashenka to Kyiv.

The President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso is ready to take part in the International Conference “Chernobyl, 25 Years On: Safety for the Future”, is to be held in Kyiv between April 20 and 22, 2011, UNIAN informs with a reference to a source in the European Commission.

However, the interlocutor of the agency noted that Jose Manuel Barroso had made one condition – absence of Alyaksandr Lukashenka at the conference.

“It is the basic term,” the President of the European Commission said.

As said by him, Kyiv has not informed yet whether participation of Lukashenka in the conference is planned.

As informed by the website of the conference, the government of Belarus is one of the co-organizers of the conference, together with the governments of Ukraine and Russia, the European Commission, the Council of Europe and a number of other organizations.
