“European Belarus”: Let’s maintain ground, let’s advance an attack!

Activists of “European Belarus” have told why it is important to hold Freedom Day in the centre of the city.

Leaflets with the appeal to gather at the first rallying point – which hadn’t been authorized by the city authorities, Yakub Kolas Square – continue to appear in the capital of Belarus. Activists of “European Belarus” are sure: the main holiday of Independence should be celebrated by democrats in the centre of the city, not at Bangalore Square.”

“It is tremendously important for the opposition not to retreat, to maintain ground won in the society during the election campaign. It is important to advance an attack. It is important to continue rallies in the centre of the city. It is understandable that the authorities want to prevent that, to send us to the outskirts again, for people not to see us, for us to celebrate the most important holiday of Belarusians at the dogs walking area.

In order to pursue the offensive, in order to show our power, for our demands to be heard, we will hold Freedom Day in the centre of the city on Yakub Kolas Square, and it is really important,” Radio Racyja was told by one of the activists of “European Belarus.”
