A public action to remind passers-by about the events in Belarus on December 19 and the following 100 days was held on Castle Square in Warsaw.
Warsaw’s Castle Square is a traditional place for pickets, happenings, and demonstrations. Some dozens of Belarusians with national white-red-white flags formed a corridor out of photos and illustrations of the events in Belarus 100 days ago, on the day of presidential elections.
The action organized by information bureau of solidarity with democratic Belarus had a title “100 black days”. Representatives of European Belarus civil campaign joined the picket. The wife and the daughter of Zmitser Bandarenka, an election agent of Belarusian presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, took part in the event.
According to participants, the recent events, mainly those in Africa, draw attention of the West from Belarus. By forming a corridor out of big photos and handing out leaflets with information about the event in Belarus the local Belarusians wanted to remind the Poles what happened in Belarus 100 days ago and happening now.
Poland showed unprecedented solidarity with Belarus last week. Street actions, performances, and concerts were organized. The main event was a gig “Solidarity with Belarus” played on Sunday in Warsaw.
