The Belarusian KGB is investigating three versions of a terrorist act in Minsk.
These are destabilization of the situation, vengeance by extremist organizations, and actions of a sick person, KGB head Vadzim Zaitsau told journalists on Tuesday.
“The KGB is investigating three reasons for the terrorist attack: destabilization of the situation, vengeance by extremist organizations, and actions of an unhealthy person,” Zaitsau said.
A blast hit the Oktyabrskaya metro station in Minsk during evening rush hour on Monday. According to the latest information, 12 people were killed, over 150 taken to hospital, of which 40 are in grave condition. The Belarusian General Prosecutor’s Office says it was a terrorist act.
Three detained
Three persons were detained in Minsk in connection with the terrorist act, Belarusian KGB head Vadzim Zaitsau said.
One person is suspected of committing the act, but investigators do not exclude he might have had accomplices, the KGB chairman says.
The suspect is a heavily-built man, about 27 years old, 175-178cm tall, Zaitsau said.
