MFA promises to turn Belarus into North Korea

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus announces its readiness to ban dissidents from leaving the country.

MFA spokesman Andrei Savinykh said this on ONT TV channel, BelTA news agency reports.

“If the situation continues to develop under a negative scenario, we will be ready to apply targeted response measures, especially against the politicians and institutions generating anti-Belarusian activity,” the spokesman said. He explained that retaliatory measures would be discussed when there was a real need for them. “We are involved in a process with an aim of not to allow the EU Council to implement the calls of the European Parliament,” he noted. “If our efforts bring positive results and our partners listen to their common sense, retaliatory measures won’t perhaps be used.”

Andrei Savinykh turned attention to the fact that serious issues need preparations to start long before taking a real decision. All possible scenarios are elaborated, but a decision is taken only under one of them.
