Iryna Khalip allowed seeing Andrei Sannikov

The authorities permitted journalist Iryna Khalip to see her husband, Belarusian presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov. The couple was sentenced in the case of December 19.
“I was permitted to see him,” Khalip told Interfax on phone Tuesday.
She said she “still does not know what things she is allowed to do, above all, if professional activity is allowed”.
On May 14, the Partyzanski district court of Minsk found Sannikov guilty in organizing mass riot in Minsk and sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment in a medium security penal colony.
On May 16, the Zavadski district court of Minsk sentenced Sannikov’s wife Iryna Khalip to two years’ imprisonment with two years of suspension. Khalip was sentenced under article 342 of the Criminal Code (organizing group actions that breach public order, or taking active part in these actions).
As many as 25 people have already been sentenced in the case of December 19.
