Bahdankevich did not tell Myasnikovich the main cause of the crisis

Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich had a meeting with former chairman of the Belarusian National Bank Stanislau Bahdankevich.

Myasnikovich asked the honourary member of the United Civil Party to give a consultation and propose ideas to tackle the crisis.

Myasnikovich offered Bahdankevich official cooperation, but the latter refused. The former head of the National Bank said there are more young experts and advised to engage them.

Bahdankevich gave some advice on how to overcome the economic crisis:

1. Determine the Belarusian ruble exchange rate on the exchange market;

2. Apply for a $8bn IMF loan;

3. Stop political repression and pressure on media;

4. Work out a reform programme;

5. Create a positive image of the country to attract direct foreign investments.

The PM told Bahdankeivch about the actions taken by the government.

The former chairman of the National Bank noted to journalist that the government’s actions did not offer radical measures.

Bahdankevich also acquainted Myasnikovich with the saving programme.

The United Civil Party plans to give the government and trade union a more complete version of the reform programme by the end of the week, Radio Svaboda reports.

Unfortunately, Stanislau Bahdankevich did not tell the Prime Minister the main cause of the collapse and obstacles on the way of tackling the crisis. As readers of charter97.org think, Alyaksandr Lukashenka is the main person to blame for the breakdown of the Belarusian economy.
