Igor Bancer, activist of Union of Poles, detained in Hrodna

4

Police came to him this morning.

His wife Anżelika Orechwo, head of the Union of Poles in Belarus, said about detention of Igor Bancer in an on-air interview to Euroradio. According to her, policemen did not say the reasons for the detention. Bancer’s location is unknown.

Anżelika Orechwo supposes that Igor was detained in connection with a trial over journalist Andrzej Poczobut that starts today in Hrodna. Activists of the Union of Poles plan to gather near the court building to support Poczobut. It seems that policemen try to hand in summons to some activists to prevent the mass action.
