Questionings in Byalyatski's case go on

Human rights activist from Hrodna Viktar Sazonau was questioned in the local office of the Financial Investigation Department in the morning of August 25.

The questioning was carried out in connection with the criminal case against Ales Byalyatski, the head of Viasna Human Rights Centre.

“An investigator came from Minsk, though they could have found someone here to question me. This shows that the matter is very serious. Everyone understands that this is not an ordinary case. They need to do their best to prove something. We know Ales Byalyatski and know he is innocent. The recent events were not a surprise for us, because taking the path of human rights activity and struggle for the country you know that this may happen,” Sazonau told Radio Svaboda.

The human rights activist refused to say any details relating to the questioning, because he was given a gagging order.
