Zmitser Dashkevich thrown into punishment cell 8 times

He may face a new criminal case.

The fiancee of the political prisoner, Nasta Palazhanka, said about the meeting of a lawyer with Zmitser on August 24. The lawyer was refused meetings five times before, “Nasha Niva” newspaper reports.

According to Palazhanka, Zmitser was not able to tell about all violations - the conversation was held in the presence of a prison guard. He only could report about facts of humiliating treatment.

Dashkevich said that Alyaksandr Lapatka, the deputy chief responsible for operative work, made Zmitser stand in the corridor during the whole night and ordered to go to work in the morning. Dashkevich refused to obey and was thrown into a punishment cell.

Zmitser also complained at low temperature in cells. He says he has to do push-ups to warm himself up after an hour of sleep. He asks to send him gloves.

Zmitser Dashkevich and his lawyer do not have an opportunity to study the reports, on which grounds the political prisoner had been punished. It means that they cannot appeal against them. Zmitser is allowed to receive only two 2-kg parcels a year.

Palazhanka thinks that prison authorities do not treat the political prisoner in a special way. It is an ordinary treatment of all inmates.

Human rights activist Andrei Bandarenka notes Zmitser may be presented a new criminal case under article 411 of the Criminal Code – gross disobedience to demands of prison authorities. He may face from one to two years in prison in addition to his acting 2-year sentence.
