Was Minsk metro blasted by people in mufti?

Four men in mufti got into the shot of BelTA agency made right after the blast in Minsk metro.

They were carrying out a KPM-3U1 military blasting unit, a reel of firing wire and a big heavy bag, gonzo.by informs.

So who are these people in plainclothes? They are not de-miners for sure, as the picture of sappers looks like this:

Two of these men who were carrying out bags, have striped T-shirts on. They were noticed in the metro later, beside (supposedly) Kanavalau who was carrying the bag. Look to the person in the striped T-shirt. They are marked by 1 and 2 at the station. The person 1 is carrying something in his hands (3) as well, and we see him carrying something when leaving the metro entrance, too.

One of the persons injured in the terrorist attack Samvel Saakyan earlier stated that before the blast he saw 4 workers busy with repair works. As stressed by Abrazej, a lawyer, they had not been identified and had not been interrogated. He asked the court to direct an inquiry to the administration of Minsk metro to establish their identities and to summon them to appear before court as witnesses. Judge Fedartsou answered that the motion would be considered within three days, but nothing was done.

Theory of planting explosive near column does not hold water

There is a huge hole in the reinforced concrete floor at the scene of the explosion, the bench had disappeared. But corpse nearby are undamaged. Does it mean that human bodies could endure the blast, while reinforced concrete could not? It is explained by the following things:

According to the experts’ conclusion, the blast energy mostly went in the direction of the floor and ceiling.

According to the testimony, Kanavalau placed his bag on the left side of the bench. In such a case, during the blast the bench’s fragments should have flown towards the column, in the direction of the tunnel – the long underpass between the stations. But what is the source of the huge holes in the metro coach, which are perpendicular to the supposed motion of fragments? The column in the left side of the picture which is almost intact also looks rather strange, especially when compared to the hole in the floor.

However, all the numbers add up when we consider explosion of the bench from the inside of one of the bench’s pedestals.

The key point in the investigation of this terrorist attack is damage to the metro coach. Thanks to the damage it is possible to determine not only whether a bomb had subammunition, but also determine the place of planting. Moreover, this damage indirectly indicates the actual perpetrators, and which is more important, to orchestrators of this hideous crime.

The fact is that there is a hollow from the blast wave on the metro coach, and large unformed holes of different size and form punched by pieces of marble as supposed. These pieces of marble could come from the pedestal of the bench only. Notably, there are no holes or dents from metal balls the authorities had been talking about constantly. Moreover, doctors stated that no nails or metal calls were found in the bodies of injured and dead.

All these facts demonstrate that the charge was planted inside the hollow pedestal. Why was it hollow? Only a hollow pedestal could split into such a great number of parts after the explosive charge was placed inside. If the charge was placed into the pedestal, fragments were to fly every which way, and into the direction of the metro coach as well, and the blast wave was not weakened considerably. It reminds a fragmentation grenade in its design, however it is larger in size and has marble body. Moreover, this effect of the body had not been taken in consideration by perpetrators, which caused a great number of victims. The solid body allows using the charge energy more fully. There are some other facts which support this theory.

The hole in the floor caused by the blast coincides with the sizes of the pedestal, and its SHAPE. Investigators cannot determine the explosion epicenter (under the bench or near the bench), and it is not surprising, as the second pedestal which was to endure the explosion, and a massive oak plate of the bench, were removed before Lukashenka arrived there, and before all bodies of the victims were taken away.

And in order to make localizing the real place of the blast epicenter impossible, the patch-up over the explosion place was made much bigger that the hole under it. All this looks as covering up traces. Someone just wanted to frighten people a little, and the tragedy happened.

In addition, here is a quote from the interview of Kavalyou’s mother to “Voice of America” which confirms this version:

“We do not even know exactly what had exploded. Yaraslau, whose legs were cut off by the blast, could not attend the court, but his mother read out his testimony. It was stated there clearly: “When I sat on the bench in the metro, there was NO BAG there at all.”
