Migalski calls EP to speak against Ice Hockey Championship in Belarus

Polish MEP Marek Migalski supports the move of Free Belarus Now civil initiative.

Marek Migalski has sent a letter to members of the European Parliament regarding Belarus’s intention to host the Ice Hockey World Championship:

“Dear colleagues,

Free Belarus Now campaign has sent appeals to national ice hockey federations of all countries taking part in the 2010 world championship. The event is due to be hosted by Belarus, but in view of the ongoing human rights violations in the country Free Belarus Now urges the participating states to find another country to host the event.

I’d like to support the initiative and, with the help of Free Belarus Now, gather signatures of members of the European Parliament under this appeal and send it to the national ice hockey federations. Please, let me know if you are ready to sign the appeal and my office will organize signature collection. Please find attached the appeal and press release.
