Police decides to hush up abduction of FEMEN activists

The Belarusian police have completed an inquiry in the case of an incident with activists of Ukrainian FEMEN group.

As BelTA news agency has learned from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, the inquiry was carried out by the police department of Yelsk town. Based on the results of the inquiry, it was decided not to open a criminal case. “The information spread by the members of the unregistered Ukrainian organization has not been confirmed,” police said.

We remind that FEMEN activists were kidnapped in Minsk on December 19 after a performance in front of the KGB headquarters. On the next day, they found themselves in a small village close to the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. All of them were beaten. The activists said they had been blindfolded and spent the night in a bus. They then were taken to a forest. The women were doused with oil, forced to undress, threatened with a knife, which was later used to cut their hair. The Ukrainian girls were left in a forest naked with no documents and money. The girls claim the whole process was filmed and believe the Belarusian secret services stand behind the incident.
