Pavel Marynich: My father also almost killed in prison

The son of the former political prisoner is convinced Andrei Sannikov is in the same situation as his father Mikhail Marynich, a former minister for foreign economic relations, was.

“I had no illusions about the methods used by Lukashenka and his organized criminal group towards his political opponents. 17 years of the rule of the dictator are associated with crimes against his own nation. Many of them do not have statute of limitation. My family went through Lukashenka’s GULAG. I know firsthand how Lukashenka kills his rivals in prisons.

In March 2005, after a long transfer to penal colony No. 8 in Orsha, my father was almost killed on Lukashenka’s personal order. They threw him into a solitary cell and did not give him medicines for a few days watching his suffering until he had a stroke. He was saved only due to solidarity of people, who were gathering on the square for several weeks in spite of cold and arrests to demand to provide medical aid to him.

It’s fresh in my memory. I will never forget the names of the henchmen involved in this crime. They are Lukashevich, the chief of penal colony No. 8, judge Dauzhenka, prosecutor Nikulin and many others, who fulfilled criminal orders. I have no doubts they will be punished soon. The man, who retains power in my country with weapons, who robs the people of the country and kills the national elite in prisons, should remember in a cold sweat about the ignominious end of his friends Hussein and Gaddafi. I am proud to know such persons as Andrei Sannikov, Iryna Khalip, Zmitser Bandarenka, Mikalai Statkevich and others, who went down in contemporary history of Belarus for centuries. The henchmen of the regime should know they will answer for everything soon,” Pavel Marynich told in an interview to charter97.org.
