Vinahradau sentenced to 10 days for toys

The court of Maskouski district of Minsk has sentenced the former political prisoner Pavel Vinahradau to 10 days of arrest.

Judge Tatsyana Matyl found him guilty of participation in the unsanctioned rally held on February 10 on Independence Square in Minsk under a slogan “Toys are protesting!” Stuffed toys with little posters: “Alejandro, release people!”, “Cops have torn away my eye”, “Toys against total lawlessness” were placed on the square then.

A policeman was a witness in the court. He stated that he saw Vinahradau took an active part in the rally, placing toys there. Vinohradau stated however, that he had not taken part in the rally, but was standing beside and observing.

Besides, a young activist Alyaksandr Artsybashay was detained in the court of Maskouski district. He wanted to give a parcel with things to Pavel Vinahradau.

Pavel Vinahradau, “Tell the Truth!” campaign activist, disappeared on February 21 at about 7 p.m. Pavel was to meet with a friend in “Mistral” café near “Dinamo” stadium. However, he failed to appear in the café. It became known that two persons in mufti visited the café and looked for a person in a white jacket looking like Vinahradau.
