General Prosecutor's Office: Criminal case and travel ban for urging to impose sanctions

The authorities have a great fear of economic sanctions.

The people calling to impose sanctions on Belarus have become very active recently.

This statement was made today today by Pavel Radzivonau, the head of the Office for Legislative Execution and Legality of Legal Acts of the Prosecutor General's Office.

“The Prosecutor General's Office has noticed a recent activization of certain persons who call on foreign states and international organizations to impose sanctions, including economic ones, against Belarus,” Pavel Radzivonau said.

One of the opposition leaders urged an international organization to introduce economic sanctions “over the administrative charges faced for breaking traffic rules”, Pavel Radzivonau noted. According to him, the sanctions are to affect “all people of Belarus – children, elderly people, workers and clerks”.

The representative of the Prosecutor General's Office thinks it is not just populism. Such actions can be be qualified from the point of view of the criminal law and prosecution agencies try to explain to these people the possible consequences, which may include criminal responsibility, Pavel Radzivonau stresses.
