Lyabedzka ban from leaving Belarus due to “obligations imposed by court”

Anatol Lyabedka, the head of the United Civil Party (UCP), was finally told the reason for the travel ban.

On March 20, he received explanation from the Citizenship and Migration Office of the Tsentralny district police department. The politician was given a notice saying he is temporarily restricted from leaving Belarus. The restrictions were imposed in connection with a letter from the Ministry of Justice on March 5 on the ground of information that Lyabedzka “evades the obligations imposed by court”. The notice says nothing what obligations, on what ground and by which court were imposed, Radio Svaboda reports.

Lyabedzka is going to visit the Ministry of Justice in the nearest days and apply to the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus over violation of his civil rights.
