Belneftekhim blackmails EU

Representatives of Belneftekhim concern do not exclude possible increase in prices in the domestic market.

It will happen in case the EU expands sanctions against Belarusian enterprises by analogy with the sanctions imposed by the US in 2007.

“The concern views the possible expanding of sanctions against Belarus and its enterprises negatively and disapprovingly. We believe that this measure would affect not only employees of enterprises, but every Belarusian, as well as some Europeans. It will happen in case oil refineries would not be able to maintain prices in the domestic market at the expense of export deliveries at a socially low level, and the prices would be increased,” said a spokesperson of Belneftekhim concern Maryna Kastsuchenka to Interfax-Zapad.

M. Kastsuchenka has stressed that foreign partners of Belarusian enterprises oppose the possible tightening of the sanctions as well.

“Foreign partners of our enterprises have a negative attitude to such a possible measure and believe it is a manifestation of unfair competition on the part of analogous businesses of Europe,” said the representative of the concern.

She noted that “Belarusian oil refineries are enterprises which work for the good of the entire nation; they pay taxes and conduct open and transparent business, which is not working in favour of any one concrete person, a businessman.”

As it was informed, on March 23 the EU strengthened visa and economic sanctions against Belarus, in this way trying to make the Belarusian authorities release a number of oppositional activists from prisons. They are recognized political prisoners by Europe. Ni particular, the sanctions were imposed against Triple and Univest-M companies, which earlier carried out tilling-based oil refining at Belarusian oil refineries.

In 2007 the Treasury of the US imposed economic sanctions against Belneftekhim concern and it subsidiaries registered in countries of Europe. In particular, the sanctions were imposed against Triple and Univest-M companies, which earlier carried out refining of customer-owned oil at Belarusian oil refineries.
