Kavalenka’s wife: “Lawyer said Syarhei is dying”

On March 29 the lawyer visited the political prisoner who continues hunger strike.

Alena Kavalenka, the wife of the political prisoner, told about the results of the meeting to Radio Svaboda.

“He told that Syarhei is dying. His weight is 45 kilograms, irreversible processes in liver and stomach have started, but there is no help offered for him, it appears that they are waiting for him to die. The lawyer does not know anything about the news that the colony representatives are allegedly waiting for a permission of the court to start force-feeding. I do not exclude that they tell lies. Now I am on the way to the penal colony, in order to call in ambulance for Syarhei,” Alena Kavalenka said.

The wife of the political prisoner has also filed a complaint to the prosecutor of Vitsebsk region and other officials, with an appeal to provide medical assistance to Syarhei Kavalenka urgently, and with a warning about responsibility for a failure to render such assistance.”
