Radoslaw Sikorski: European solidarity appears to be effective

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland confirmed the return of the country's ambassador to Minsk.

Radoslaw Sikorski confirmed Ambassador Leszek Szerepka “has already crossed the Polish-Belarusian border” and stressed the “European solidarity appeared to be effective in this case”, Radio Svaboda reports.

“But what is more important than the comfort of ambassadors and their location is the relations between the European Union and Belarus that depend on Belarus's attitude towards own citizens.”

Radoslaw Sikorski reminded Poland continued the policy of encouraging the Belarusian authorities to release political prisoners, which would allow to start a dialogue with the EU and later to hold the parliamentary elections in compliance with international standards that could make possible close cooperation with the European Union and Europe's help to Belarus.
