Opposition activist arrested for “Chernobyl Way” banner

Dzmitry Stankevich, an activist of Young Front, has been arrested for three days by the Maskouski district court of Minsk.

He was detained at the entrance to Institute of Culture metro station with a banner “Chernobyl Way” at 11 pm yesterday. Dzmitry was guarded to a police department, where a report over disorderly conduct was drawn up on him. Dzmitry Stankevich spent the night in a detention centre in Akrestsin Street, “Narodnaya Volya” newspaper writes.

The court ignored the fact the Chernobykl Way rally was permitted by the city authorities and punished the Young Front member with three days in custody.
