Andrei Mouchan, an activist of European Belarus civil campaign brutally beaten by police, must visit the Pershamaiski district police department of Minsk tomorrow.
“An officer from the Investigation Committee phoned and invited me to the Pershamaiski district police department tomorrow at 11:30 am for a conversation. I asked what we were supposed to talk about. He answered he needed my explanations regarding actions by police, who detained me on May 19. He said they carried out an inquiry,” Mouchan told Radio Svaboda.
Andrei Mouchan says he will appear for the conversation: “However, I think the results will not be positive. The Investigation Committee is controlled by the authorities. What results can be here? I will go and see if they suddenly found somebody.”
Mouchan says he is on sick leave until June 11.
As charter97.org reported earlier, on May 19, Andrei Mouchan raised a national white-red-white flag near Pershamaiski store in Uruchcha city district to show solidarity with Syarhei Kavalenka. Police detained and beat him brutally. According to a preliminary diagnose, Andrei had a head injury, fractures of the lower jaw and ribs, injures from blows to kidneys and legs.
On May 25, Andrei Mouchan was discharged from hospital and sent to a polyclinic. The discharge summary says he has only a mild brain injury while broken jaw and other injuries are in question.
On May 28, two police reports were drawn up against Mouchan. The reports accuse him of violating article 17.1 (swearing) and article 23.34 (unauthorized picket).
