Relatives of political prisoners wrote to Loreen

They "introduced" the country, where she would gather to perform.

Relatives of political prisoners sent an open letter to the winner of the song contest "Eurovision" Loreen before her visit to Belarus and the participation in the festival "Slavyansky Bazaar" in Vitebsk.

The authors of the letter informed Loreen about the situation with human rights, political prisoners, tortures and death penalty in Belarus.

"We, the mothers and wives of political prisoners, want you to know that Belarus is a country ruled by fear and lawlessness, there is no independent judiciary to apply the death penalty.

Your performance, dear Loreen, will take place in the only country in Europe, where the presidential candidates during and after the election campaign subjected to torture in the KGB prison, and put behind bars for years. Where, after the elections in 2010 has been arrested over a thousand people, and more than 30 people received sentences ranging from 3 to 6 years in prison, just for the fact that dared to speak out against the regime.

We cannot influence your decision to take part in the Opening ceremony of "Slavyansky Bazaar". And of course, we cannot to deprive our citizens the right to enjoy your music and your talent.

But we hope you will remember that this festival has always used by the government as a powerful opportunity for demonstration international support for the regime.

Please do not let them take your name and presence to their advantage," - wrote the relatives of the political prisoners.
