France expresses solidarity with Sweden

France calls Belarus to restore normal diplomatic relations with Sweden.

This was stated by Vincent Floriani, Deputy Spokesperson for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August, 9 at a press-conference in Paris.

«France shares the concern of High Representative Catherine Ashton over Minsk’s refusal to renew the credentials of the Swedish Ambassador to Belarus. We stand with the Swedish authorities and call on Belarus to renew normal diplomatic relations with Sweden.

We will consult with our European partners during a meeting of the Political and Security Committee (PSC) that will take place this Friday, August 10», - said he.

Minsk last Friday expelled the Swedish ambassador. Sweden later kicked out three Belarusian envoys. And Belarus on Wednesday expelled all remaining Swedish diplomats in Minsk. Yesterday it was announced the closure of the Belarusian Embassy in Stockholm.
