Ales Michalevic: EU must not let criminals in

It is necessary that the officials, included into the black list of the EU, be assigned the status of criminals.

A former Belarusian presidential candidate Ales Michalevic stated that when commenting for charter97.org on the participation of blacklisted Henadz Niavyhlas in the OSCE security event, which took place on 12 March in Vienna.

“It is a shame, but there are many exceptions from this rule. For example, the presence of certain people at the sessions of international organization. And it if fairly difficult to make sure that the West takes a clear and consolidated position on that issue. But Europe is very decisive in dealing with those, who are wanted for committing serious crimes”, - the politician noted.

He emphasized that it is very important for Belarusians that the people, included in the lists on the non-allowed to enter the EU countries, be also qualified as criminals who can be arrested.

“It is obvious that the West often makes concessions. The thins is that democratic states show flexibility more often than countries with a dictator in power, where the position is stable and change very rarely. For example, there are many foreigners whom the Belarusian authorities deny visas and I am sure they are not going grant one in any circumstances. The European Union should do the same and do not make exceptions”, -Ales Michalevic concluded.

We would remind that on 12 March the so-called OSCE Security Day took place in Vienna.

The deputy Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Henadz Niavyhlas was one of the main speakers from Belarus. He is included in the list of people forbidden to enter the EU coutnries.
