Belarus does not plan to pay compensations for the 1990s bank deposits.
This statement was made by National Bank chief Nadzezhda Yermakova during a call-in show organised by Sovetskaya Belorussia newspaper, Euroradio reports.
Valyantina from Kirausk said her husband had opened 5,000-ruble deposit accounts for their five grandchildren. It was big money in those times, but costs nothing today.
According to Yermakova, no compensations for such deposits are planned in the nearest future.
This step requires huge funds, which the government doesn't have now.
