Freedom Day participants sentenced to fines

(updated – 19.30) In the court of Minsk’s Soviet district trials are being held of the detained participants of the 24th March procession.

We would remind that several participants of the procession on the occasion of the Freedom Day were detained yesterday in Minsk, including three citizens of Ukraine.

Protocols were composed against them for violating the article 23.34 – the procedure of carrying out a mass event.

Today the judge of Minsk’s Soviet district Dzmitry Pauluchenka made a warning to Nazar Zielinouski, an underage Ukraine citizen detained yesterday. Tomorrow at 12 p.m. the sub-department of citizenship and migration of Minsk Soviet district’s police department will consider the issue of Zielinouski’s deportation from the Republic of Belarus.

The judge Dzmitry Pauluchenka punishe another Ukrainian Julija Gryshchuk with a one-day arrest. Julia Slivinskaja, another Ukrainian citizen, was also sentenced to a one-day arrest by a judge Aksana Ralava. The girls have already been released, since they served their arrest terms in the Akrestsina prsion. The Ukrainian consul was present in the court.

A European Belarus civic campaign’s activist Aliaksandr Kavalou was sentenced to a fine of 40 basic units by a judge Kiryl Palulekh.

The judge Aksana Ralava sentenced a participant of the procession Anton Tsimokhau to a fine of 25 basic units.

Vital Stanisheuski, who acknowledged his guilt, was sentenced to five days in prison according to the article 17.1 (disorderly conduct).

Siarhei Mokich was sentenced to a fine of 35 basic units.

Aleh Astashonak was punished with a fine of 40 basic units. The verdict was passed by the judge Kiryl Palulekh.

A European Belarus civic campaign’s activist Aleh Rahouski was sentenced to a fine of 3 million roubles.
