Prison censors delay political prisoner’s letters

The administration of the Navapolatsk colony No10 delays the correspondence of Ihar Alienevich.

The mother of the political prisoner Valantsina Alienevich told about that to charter97.org.

“There had been no news from the son for a long time and we started to worry. I called to the colony to find everything out. They told me that a talk was held with Ihar and he would write a letter. It turned out that he did write on 13 February and the envelope remained in the colony for two weeks – the date on the post stamps was 28th”, - the political prisoner’s mother noted.

She added that there were problems with correspondence before.

“Last month I visited my daughter in Switzerland and wrote letters to Ihar. Fortunately, they all reached him, but in the reverse order. It is absolutely unclear why it happens this way. We mail each other on general neutral topics, there is nothing seditious in the letters. It is all very weird”, - Valantsina Alienevich concluded.

We would remind that on 27 May 2011 a judge of Minsk Zavadzki district’s court Zhana Khajnitskaja sentenced Ihar Alienevich to 8 years in high security prison. He is now serving the punishment in the colony No10 in Navapolatsk. He was accused together with Mikalai Dziadok and Aliaksandr Frantskevich of organizing a march near the Defense Ministry building, alleged attack on the casino Shangri La and the detention center in Akrestsina street and also of setting on fire the doors of a Bealruskbank’s affiliate office.
