Rymasheuski: No reasons to lift sanctions against regime

The position of the Belarusian Christian Democracy regarding the possibility to start a dialogue between the authorities of Belarus and the European Union remains unchanged.

It was announced on 9 April at a conference in Brussels by BChD’s co-chairman Rygor Dzmitruk, BChD’s press-service reports.

“BChD’s position is unchanged: it is impossible to cancel the black lists and start a dialogue between Minsk and Brussels before the release and complete rehabilitation of all the political prisoners. This condition has been put forward by the European Union and supported by all the democratic organizations in Belarus. There are no grounds now to abandon it”, - a BChD’s co-chairman Vital Rymasheuski noted when commenting on the statements of some Belarusian politicians on the necessity to lift the sanctions against the regime.

He emphasized that the issue of political prisoners must not be manipulated with, and the floor must be first of all given to those of them, who can express their position independently and without intermediaries.

“It is a big mistake of the organizers of the conference, that they did not invite the relatives of the political prisoners and did not voice the position of those, who are now in captivity”, - Vital Rymasheuski believes.

We would remind that yesterday a conference tool place in Brussels under the name 'The Dialogue on Modernization with Belarusian Society - A functioning new instrument?'.  At the conference the chairman of the Movement for Freedom Aliaksandr Milinkevich spoke in favor of the dialogue between the European Union and the regime.
