Jury Lavonau: USA may get truth out of Alikhver

Belarusian public has the right to demand the USA to interrogate Alikhver for him to tell the truth about the case of Autukhovich.

A former political prisoner, an entrepreneur Jury Lavonau claimed that when commenting for charter97.org the move to the US of the investigator of the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee for Hrodna region, who dealt with Autukhovich’s first criminal case.

“Judging from the pictures that I saw in the Classmates, Mikalaj Alikhver could have moved to his relatives. It is the first version. I would note that the criminal case was started in January 2005. I do not know for sure whether Alikhver dealt with it from the beginning. I had an impression that he did not really want to deal with this investigation and believed that there was not enough evidence for starting a criminal case. All the further course of events confirmed my guess. No one other than Alikhver made a resolution for holding a judicial-economic expertise of the relations between the enterprise Nika-trans and an entrepreneur Mikalaj Autukhovich. It ended at the end of 2005 and acknowledged that there was no corpus delicti there”, - the former political prisoner believes.

He emphasized that despite that the investigator arrested the entrepreneur on 15 October 2005 in the building of Hrodna region’s State Control Committee department.

“I am not ready to claim whether it was his own initiative or a strict order from above, but the fact remains a fact. That is why, it seems to me, that his move to the USA may be caused by the contradictions in the circumstances. On the one hand, as a lawyer he did not see a corpus delicti in this case, on the other hand he had to undertake the legal proceedings, which made him quite the investigator position later and leave the country. This is the second version”, - the entrepreneur noted.

He is sure that the United States of America can get the truth about this case from Mikalaj Alikhver.

“One can hardly demand the USA to arrest the investigator. But one can aim for America to apply the toughest pressing to Alikhver and under the threat of the residence permit annulment make him tell the truth about who ordered to prosecute Autukhovich. He knows everything about that”, - Jury Lavonau summarized.

We would remind that in May 2010 Mikalaj Autukhovich has been sentenced to 5 years and 2 month in high security prison according to the part 3 of the article 295 of the Criminal Code - unlawful actions with firearms, ammunition and explosives. He was accused of “carrying and storing five bullets” for a hunting rifle. Autukhovich did not acknowledge the guilt in court and claimed that he was being prosecuted for anticorruption activities.

The political prisoner served the term in the penal colony number 5 in Ivacevichy. In December 2011 he was sent to the premises of a closed type. By the decision of the court on 17 January 2012 he was transferred to a prison in Hrodna.
