Police came to performance Animal (Video)

Policemen again broke into a performance by Belarus Free Theater.

In the evening on 18 May policemen came to the performance Animal in Minsk. All the name of the present spectators and actors were written down. At the same time policemen, who were both in uniform and mufti, refused to present documents. We would remind that Belarus Free Theater works in a private house in Minsk, since the theater does not have any other space, and all its performances are forbidden in Belarus.

The director of Belarus Free Theater Natalia Kaliada assumed in an interview to charter97.org that policemen thought that the performance Animal was about them, although the play is written by one of the theater’s actresses about her neighbors, who abuse alcohol. The director of Belarus Free Theater also links the police visit to her recent speech at Freedom Forum in Oslo.
