Political prisoner Vaskovich will meet family in prison

Jauhien Vaskovich, who is serving the prison term in Mahilou prison number 4, was allowed a short-term meeting with relatives.

The charter97.org web-site learnt about that from his mother Rushanija Vaskovich.

“Jauhien made a phone call on 11 January. Everything was good. Now we are getting ready for the meeting. We will go at the end of the month, not earlier than the date on which we went last year. We cannot go earlier, because we are allowed to meet once a year”, - she said.

The political prisoner’s mother pointed out that it will be a short-term three-hour meeting.

“All in all, it is all as usual, follows its customary routine. Jauhien writes letters and for New Year’s he sent postcards with congratulations. Also he was visited by a lawyer”, - Rushanija Vaskovich added.

We would remind that Jauhien Vaskovich was convicted together with Arciom Prakapienka and Paviel Syramalotau. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges with an attempted arson of the doors of Babrujsk KGB office. He was repeatedly put in a penal cell. After that the political prisoner was transferred from a penal colony to the Mahilou prison as a “malicious violator of the penitentiary regime”.
