Political prisoner Parfiankou in information isolation

Vasily Parfiankou says about prison conditions in Zhodzina.

Charter97.org has learnt it from activist Volha Mikalaichyk.

“Vasily is in Zhodzina. I received a letter from him on January 10. He writes confinement conditions in Zhodzina are worse than in the pre-trial detention facility in Minsk. If such a brave guy like him writes so, t's really hard there. Vasoly thanked everybody for support,” she said.

The activist noted Parfiankou was in full information isolation.

“There's no television and normal newspapers in the cell. He is the only political prisoner there. It's difficult to subscribe to newspapers there. He will be happy to receive interesting newspapers and magazines. Vasily Parfiankou's address: Zhodzina, Ul. Savetskaya 22A, ST-8, cell 126,” Volha Mikalaichyk added.

On December 5, Minsk's Pershamaiski district court sentenced Parfiankou to a year in a maximum security correctional colony for “violating the rules of preventive supervision”. The political prisoner began to serve his term in correctional colony No. 9 in Horki.

Vasily Parfiankou was given 4 years in prison in 2011 for participating in a rally on December 19, 2010. He was pardoned some months later. The activist was placed under supervision at the beginning of 2012 after detentions at pickets of solidarity with political prisoners.
