Salihorsk residents send postcards to political prisoners

1

Activists from Salihorsk sent postcards to support Belarusian political prisoners.

“In connection with Putin's aggression against Ukraine, we hear that maybe we don't have a dictatorship,” activist Uladzimir Shyla says. “Seven Belarusian political prisoners, among them former presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich, remain behind bars. We do not have the right to forget them.”

Uladzimir Lemesh, an activist of the European Belarus civil campaign, also says the solidarity campaign is very important. He was detained recently and had to spend several days in jail, Viasna human rights centre reports.

“These people are an example of firmness and stamina. I believe they will withstand it with dignity and we'll see them free soon,” the activist says.

Activists call on people not to remain indifferent and not to be afraid of expressing their solidarity and supporting the Belarusian prisoners of conscience.
