Political prisoner Prakapenka allowed to meet with parents

A short-term visit will take place in the correctional facility in Mahilou in November.

Charter97.org learnt it from Anatoli Prakapenka, the father of the political prisoner.

“We will have a short-term meting with him in November. We don't have any news. We talk on the phone. Of course, life is not easy there. He will soon serve half of his term. Health... How can one be healthy in prison? It's bad. He understands his complicated situation and tries to survive,” he said.

Artsiom Prakepanka's father noted he would like to meet with director of the European External Action Service Gunnar Wiegand, who recently visited Minsk, but he didn't have this opportunity.

“We didn't meet with the EU representative. No one contacted us. We'd like to meet. It's clear that we are not interesting for them. I don't think they want to talk to us,” he said.

Artsiom Prakapenka was tried together with Yauhen Vaskovich and Pavel Syramolatau. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison for an attempt to set the doors of the KGB office in Babruisk on fire.
