Ihar Alinevich: Dziadok case-hardened his character so nothing may knock him down

The political prisoner wrote a letter from prison.

His mother Valiantsina Alinevich said charter97.org about it. She shared some extracts from her son's letter.

"During the time in an ad seg, he neither received nor read newspapers and letters. Therefore, after his almost 40-day absence, he got a huge volume of information", she reports.

Ihar Alinevich writes about his friend Mikalai Dziadok, who is also behind the bars.

"There have been a lot of different events but they hardly mean something in front of Mikalai's circumstances. In fact, though we always keep in our mind that it may happen, it is always all of a sudden. Mikalai has case-hardened his character so any drift of events may knock him down. Unfortunately, the relatives suffer the most in this case.

After reading books about the Gulag, it reminded me of the Institute like CCA (special meeting), known as "troika". At the end of the term of imprisonment they just handed out the decision on its 5, 10-year extension. So people stayed behind the bars for 25 years. It's quite symbolic as it can be applied in total under Article 411. On the other hand, various forms of premature release are actively being exercised so the real term seems to be rather conditional. It should be treated philosophically. And, certainly, one shouldn’t be a prisoner of illusions.

In general, autumn has brought much food for reflection and for so called philosophical conclusions. I don't know whether it is for good or bad, but a few years have already passed. Brodsky writes: ..."let there be snowstorms, rains and raging roar of fire..." Now it is crystal clear that these «storms» are an indispensable element of development. As soon as you realize it, you can take the sweet with the sour", the political prisoner writes in his letter.

It should be reminded that on May 27, 2011 Zhanna Khvainitskaia, the judge of Zavadski District in Minsk, sentenced Ihar Alinevich to 8 years of imprisonment in the colony with a reinforced regime. He is now serving his sentence in colony №10 in Navapolatsk, which is "famous" for its poor conditions. He was accused of organizing an anti-war rally against the Russia-Belarus military exercises and the arson of the Russian Embassy's car in Belarus, despite the fact that the court could not prove nothing but his participation in the rally. On November 28 the activist was illegally kidnapped in Moscow, but at the trial it was read the protocol of detention made up by the KGB security officer. It was written there that Alinevich had been arrested next to Redzka village, Vitsebsk region near the border with the Russian Federation.
