The administration of penal colony #9 in Horki has started a campaign of pressure and provocations against Vasil Parfyankou.
Charter97.org website has been informed about that by an activist Volha Mikalajchyk.
“After a long wait he has received back his Orthodox next-to-skin cross, which had been sent by me to him. It was checked for contain of precious metals. They probably wanted to steal it, but later what is left of their conscience made them change their mind. Vasily asked for this cross insistently, as he has hard times there,” she noted.
The activist stressed that the political prisoner is spending most of the time in a punishment isolation cell.
“Vasily says that it is easier in an isolation cell morally, as he is alone there. And it is harder in the penal colony, as there are many provocations, so he has to keep both eyes open all the time. He has to serve 8 more months, but he has already left without meetings with family, “otovarka” (a right to buy goods, mostly food, once a month, for a certain limited sum of money in the shop on the territory of a penal colony) and a right to receive parcels,” Volha Mikalajchyk stressed.
We remind that on December 5, 2013 the court of Pershamajski district of Minsk sentenced Vasil Parfyankou to one year in the maximum security penal colony for violating surveillance rules.
In 2011 Vasil Parfyankou was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment for participation in opposition protests of December 19, 2010. Parfyankou was pardoned by Lukashenka in August 2011. And in early 2012, after he was detained during rallies of solidarity with political prisoners, the former political prisoner was put under preventive surveillance.
