Political prisoner Prakapenka has health problems

Artsiom Prakapenka met with his parents in the correctional facility.

Charter97.org has learnt it from his father Anatoli Prakapenka.

“We returned yesterday after a short-term visit to our son. It turned out that he is again a 'persistent violator of prison rules', so he has the right only to a one-day visit. The disciplinary sanction expires on September, but the authorities of Mahilou correctional facility No. 15 make him a 'violator' on purpose. We give him a 36-kilogramme food parcel. If he didn't have this status, we could give him 30 kg more. The next visit is allowed in six months,” he noted.

The political prisoner's father says his son has problems with health.

“Artsiom lost weight. He has problems with teeth. He injured his arm, but he doesn't say how. The canteen has the first markup class, so prices here are like at a restaurant. As a 'violator', he can spend only 300,000 rubles, while others spend 700,000,” Anatoli Prakapenka said.

Artsiom Prakapenka, Yauhen Vaskovich and Pavel Syramolatau were tried together. Prakapenka was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment for an attempt to set the doors of a KGB office in Babruisk on fire. Syramolatau applied to Lukashenka for a pardon and was released in September 2012. Prakapenka and Vaskovich refused to apply for a pardon.
