Letters from the political prisoner with his comments on the events in Ukraine get confiscated by the prison censorship.
This was revealed by the politician’s wife Maryna Adamovich, Radio Svaboda reports.
“I received a letter from him today. He writes that out of the 7 letters, which were confiscated from him, all were about Ukraine. He comments on it as follows: “Considering that my reasoning is little different from the rhetoric of the official leader, he has pro-Russian opposition within our law enforcement agencies”. He, apparently, means MIA and KGB. He also responded to the discussion between Skrabiec and Hubarevich about the 2015 elections. Mikalaj stands on his prior grounds – the single candidate from the opposition should be the person, to whom the authorities have forbidden to take part in elections”, - she says.
As to the spirits and health of Mikalaj Statkievich, his wife says: “He would call before and by his voice it could be told what an energetic man he remains. He did not complain about any health issues either”.
Former candidate for president Mikalaj Statkievich is serving the 6-year prison term in a closed-type prison in Mahilou under charges of allegedly organizing public unrest on the day of presidential elections. Statkievich believes that he is being persecuted for political reasons and refuses to plead for pardon.
