Vatslau Areshka: Election boycott is the only adequate way out

For opposition the upcoming elections are absolutely out of sense, therefore they should be used to release political prisoners.

Vatslau Areshka, the cultural expert and the member of the organizing committee of Belaruski Rukh, expressed his opinion commenting on the idea to nominate Mikalai Statkevich as a single candidate in the coming elections and the boycott in case authorities fail to release and register him.

"I've always had a strict point of view. The upcoming elections do not play any role for the opposition, so the boycott is the only way out. Another question is the way it will be held. And it needs to be discussed.

The idea to nominate Statkevich may be a very interesting option, because it is clear that such elections will not be held, but from a moral point of view it looks very decent, so this variant should be considered. I am sure that most of the so-called titular opposition will not support it and will, as ever, pick a way through little things", he believes.
