It happened at the meeting of Normandy Four in Minsk. But it is discovered only now.
Anatol Liabedzka, the head of the United Civil Party says that the German chancellor asked the Belarusian dictator about political prisoners at the meeting in February. The politician wrote about it on his Facebook page.
The most interesting things happen in lobbies, but not at the official meetings. It turned out that Angela Merkel had touched upon the issue about political prisoners during her stay in Minsk. Shout-out to her for it! She said: "I asked Aliaksandr Lukashenka in my poor Russian why he did not release political prisoners. He answered that there were no political prisoners in Belarus.
An old Stalin's postulate: if not, so there is no problem! But it exists if thousands of people throughout the world tell about it. And it will have to be resolved. There is no place for compromises".
It should be reminded that there are 6 political prisoners behind bars in Belarus: Ihar Alinevich, Mikalai Dziadok, Artsem Prakapenka, Jauhen Vaskovich, Yury Rubtsou and Mikalai Statkevich. They are constantly under pressure, prison conditions are deteriorating. Mikalai Dziadok's term has been extended for a year; Mikalai Statkevich is transferred to prison. They refused to release Artsem Prakapenka, although he wrote a petition for pardon. On May 27 there will be a new trial new trial of Yury Rubtsou who now is in the Baranavichy reward prison.
