KGB officers interrogated Aliaksandr Halavan on his “connections” with the “Azov” Battalion in Ukraine.
Representatives of the force structures detained regional coordinator of the “Young Belarus” movement Aliaksandr Halavan in the afternoon on March 31.
Several officers of the KGB administration in Vicebsk region (one of them – major Aliaksandr Ivanov) seized the activist near his house at about 4 p.m. and delivered him to the regional KGB administration.
The information about the arrest has been provided by the “Young Belarus” leader Artur Finkevich on his Facebook page.
“After that they took him to the Vicebsk regional KGB administration for an interrogation. They asked airily about the activity of the “Young Belarus” and then proceeded to the questions like whether Aliaksandr collected money for “Azov”, about his connections with the battalion, about his journeys to Ukraine, acquaintances there, showed pictures of the Belarusian “Azov” soldiers. Of course he refused to give evidence and recognized no one at the pictures. Later in the evening it became known that searches were held in the apartments of the Vicebsk FC football fans”, writes Finkevich.
The “Young Belarus” movement was officially founded on September 28, 2008 on the day Belarus held “parliamentary elections”. The idea of creating the youth movement belongs to Artur Finkevich, the former political prisoner and ex-Deputy Chairman of the “Young Front”.
