Ukraine Heaped Belarus With Apples

Belarus has ranked first in import of Ukrainian apples.

According to a marketing research “Apple market in Ukraine” conducted by the company Alliance Capital Management, the largest number of apples imported from Ukraine,or more precisely 62%, went to Belarus in the first half of 2016.

Georgia takes the second place by this parameter with 11% of Ukrainian apple imports. It is followed by Moldova, with a small gap in the one percent - 10%. Kazakhstan is on the forth place with 9%, according to Thinktanks.by.

Belarus has also won the first place in the ranking of countries, which bought the cheapest Ukrainian apples in the first half of 2016.

At the same time, Belarus itself successfully imports apples.

Thus in 2014 import of apples to Russia from Belarus increased by 104% to 175 thousand tons, at the end of 2015 it increased already by 134% and reached 411 thousand tons.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the import of apples from Belarus has increased by five times after Moscow has introduced counter-sanctions. At the same time, the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation believes that this is a re-export of Polish apples, which are prohibited for import into Russia.
