Seviarynets: Free Elections, Protection Of Independence Should Be On Agenda Of Round-Table Discussion

The dialogue between the authorities and the opposition should not become just another show-off.

Co-Chairman of the steering committee for creating the party “Belarusian Christian Democracy” Pavel Seviarynets is convinced that Aliaksandr Lukashenka personally should participate in the round-table discussion, Radio Liberty reports.

“If it’s a real round-table discussion with the participation of Lukashenka himself, with the participation of the leaders of the most significant political forces, then there is a need for such an event. The agenda thereof should include two topics: protection of independence and free elections at all levels. If such topics are raised there, then of course, there is a need to participate. However, if it’s all just to sit together and then tell the Europeans that we have a dialogue here, and then we will go away and Lukashenka will continue doing what he used to do, then there is no point in holding such event,” – the politician thinks.
