Rebel Lieutenant-Colonel Ihar Vusik: We Are To Seek Justice In Court

Ihar Vusik and Lieutenant Andrei Shashkou will seek the repeal of the dismissal order.

Ihar Vusik has confirmed to Svaboda that he was made aware of the order on dismissal, and that district police lieutenant Andrei Shashkou was fired together with him, as he also signed the collective letter of Krychau militiamen to minister Ihar Shunevich.

Ihar Vusik has commented on his dismissal:

– What can I say? I think we were treated unfairly and not by law. First, they are to look at what it all began with. We informed the minister about the violations that were taking place in the Krychau district police department, but in fact the case was slowed down: the check has been being conducted for four months, but there is no result. I would say that there is a concealment of violations of the law.

Secondly, that's precisely because nothing was being decided (the people, who we wrote about to the minister, continued to work in the same way), we should have turned to the media, so that everyone knew about that and something was changed. But we were already fired for that, as we had allegedly violated the job descriptions and contract.

I repeat that we were motivated by the desire to improve the situation in the police department, we were not going to discredit anyone. And we just turned to the media to be heard at the highest level.

Now I am presented as a violator, a bad policeman, although even at the beginning of the year the police department head drew attention to the good work of the district police officers led by Vusik. So, here it is worth emphasizing: we acted in the interests of service and not against the authorities.

Ihar Vusik says that he will go to court and seek the cancellation of the order for his dismissal. As far as he knows, his colleague Lieutenant Andrei Shashkou is going to do the same.
