Political Prisoner Siarhei Kuntsevich Tortured With an Electric Current

Political Prisoner Siarhei Kuntsevich Tortured With an Electric Current
Siarhei Kuntsevich

It became known to the BNC leader Mikalai Statkevich.

One of leaders of the Belarusian Congress (BNC) Mikalai Statkevich told in the interview with Charter97.org:

- The head of the Minsk city organization of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (People's Hramada) and one of representatives of the Belarusian National Congress in Minsk, Siarhei Kuntsevich, was arrested by the KGB on the eve of Freedom Day on March 25. He was arrested because he helped me to stay free so that I could take part in the action on Freedom Day. He evacuated me from the metro station so that I could tear myself away from an external surveillance. Somehow Siarhei was found out, perhaps because of video cameras at the metro and at the bus stop where I stepped into the car.

Siarhei was responsible for sound reinforcement equipment for the ection. He parked the car near the Academy of Sciences. Later СТВ TV channel informed that there were allegedly found Molotov cocktails in that car. At the same time those cocktails were found in another car without numbers. That is, an obvious rough provocation. Nevertheless, Siarhei remains in prison: at first he was kept in the KGB pre-trial prison, now he is in the pre-trial prison of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He is charged with "preparations for mass riots".

Now we received some information from him. I have no doubt that this information belongs to him. If necessary, we can easily prove it. There are a few quotes.

Introducing words: "Dictatorship relies on cruelty and fear. The lower the economy, the greater the cruelty. People, stop being afraid!".

"There were tortures with the electric current, they wanted to know the location of Mikalai."

Siarhei informs that he is isolated. I wrote him letters, but they are not allowed to hom. He does not know that the provocation against him is unveiled, he writes that bottles have been planted by the KGB. He was on a three-day hunger strike in protest.

- How could you comment on this outrageous information?

- Of course, I am shocked with tortures. I fully trust Siarhei Kuntsevich. This policy of "liberalization" has come to an end. Yes, Belarusian politicians were kidnapped, killed, tortured in other ways in the KGB jail in 2010, but the torture with an electric current is the Gestapo methods...

This is what we've come to. Due to "kind" politicians in the West who've decided that here we have "liberalization" and freed hands of the Belarusian regime and granted it the sense of impunity as well.

Let's imagine what is happening now to those young people in the Patriot case who are still in the KGB jail and who are tried to be charged with the creation of a "military unit"?!

The Belarusian National Congress and People's Hramada will do everything possible to protect these people.
