Belarusians are protesting against the West-2017 exercises.
Brest welcomes Russian troops arriving at the West-2017 exercises with posters saying "Where Is The Russian Army, There Is A War!", "Russian Soldier, Go Home!" Such posters appeared in the center of the city, at public transport stops, in other crowded places. Patriotically-minded activists from Brest informed Charter97.org about it.
According to the activists, "the slogan "Russian Soldier, Go Home!" was used in the countries of Eastern Europe occupied by the USSR, and the occupation of our country continues to this day."
"These military exercises really should be called "AntiWest-2017", because they are directed against Europe, and therefore against the European future of Belarus," – the activists say.
We remind that the Russian-Belarusian exercises West-2017 will start in Belarus in September. A record number of rail cars – more than 4 thousand – have been used to transfer the Russian contingent. Many politicians and military experts believe that Russian troops might stay in Belarus after the exercises.
On September 8, at 19.00, the preventive rally demanding the abolition of the exercises West-2017 will start at Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk.
