Brigitte Bardot To Lukashenka: My Foundation Receives More And More Outraged Messages From Belarus

The foundation of the famous actress has written a letter to the dictator.

The foundation of famous French film actress Brigitte Bardot has addressed an open letter to Lukashenka. The Charter97.org website has also received a copy of the letter.

“My foundation receives more and more indignant reports that animals, especially the homeless ones, are subjected to cruel treatment and die a painful death in Belarus. They die from poisoned baits, they are shot, sometimes in the presence of children, following the irrational and inhuman orders of responsible officials and special services... The fate of stray animals causes shock and unrest in the European Union. The image of your country is seriously suffering, and only the adoption of early radical measures to change the current situation can contribute to its restoration.

I beg you to take the necessary measures to ensure that the funds spent on capture and killing are directed to sterilization programs, in collaboration with local animal protection organizations, as well as to nursing homes for sick animals or animals, for whom new owners are being found. Our experience can guide you in this process. The Animal Protection Act, which provides for strict sanctions for ill-treatment, should be put to a vote immediately. The voices of animal advocates must be heard, and they must also take part in the humane mission of the state bodies responsible for the fate of stray animals.

This is the only way to achieve sustainable results that will help integrate your country into the European policy of comprehensive respect for human rights, protection of nature and animals.
