Belarusians have received 10 thousand hectares of land in Zimbabwe. Previously, it has not been used in agriculture, euroradio.by reports.
The agroindustrial holding company of Belarus under Lukashenka will deal there with the production of meat and milk, the cultivation of plant products. Plots of land are being selected, soil is being studied to determine which fertilizers are needed.
Specialists from Belarus are studying the issues of irrigation and logistics. The most acceptable method of delivering agricultural equipment to Zimbabwe has not been chosen yet.
Belarusians will first be engaged in the cultivation of corn and soybeans, and later – of rice and wheat. By the end of the year, they plan to have built a dairy farm for 1000 heads. Part of the cattle will be brought from New Zealand. At the same time, they will start the line for the processing of meat and milk. Also Belarus is interested in mining of minerals, gold and lithium, in Zimbabwe.
In January 2019, the President of Zimbabwe, Emerson Mnangagwa, came to Belarus. He invited Lukashenka to come to his country.
