The initiative "Belarusian People's Tribunal" has shared a report on the results of a preliminary investigation into the circumstances of the death of Aliaksandr Taraikouski. The name of the alleged killer of the peaceful demonstrator has been revealed - this, according to BNT, is Mikita Karovin, an Almaz fighter.
The investigation was based on three videos taken at the time of the fatal shooting at Taraikouski. A BNT member, ex-fighter of Almaz Ihar Makar from the EU countries and Switzerland helped study the videos. Also, separate analytical and operational work was done to establish the identity of the criminal.
Description of the events of that day
On August 10, 2020 at 20:00, Aliaksandr Valerjevich Taraikouski returned home after a walk with his daughter.
Having learned about the peaceful protest rally at the Pushkinskaya metro station, he decided to attend the event.
At 22:30, Aliaksandr Valerjevich called his wife and said that he was going home.
Around 23:00, Aliaksandr Taraikouski died at the metro entrance from being hit by a rubber bullet from an unacceptably close distance to the heart area, standing with his hands up in front of a line of elite special forces soldiers.
The same evening, there was a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus about an incident with a fatal outcome, which had occurred with an unknown man at the Pushkinskaya metro station. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the man died as a result of the explosion of an improvised explosive device, which he was going to throw towards the security forces.
The investigation conducted allows us to assert that the Ministry of Internal Affairs' statement is an open and confident lie, a purposeful attempt to cover up another crime of its employees against the People of Belarus.
The course of the crime
The analysis of the crime course was carried out by a member of the Tribunal, Ihar Makar, based on several videos from the scene. The preliminary investigation was carried out, among other things, with the involvement of experts and information obtained from anonymous sources and operational activities, the details of which cannot be disclosed at the moment.
Aliaksandr Taraikouski was moving from the entrance to the Pushkinskaya metro station towards the picket of the security forces, dressed in a white T-shirt and clearly visible.
Almost immediately, he raised his hands up to show that he was neither dangerous nor aggressive.
With his hands up, he continued to move towards the security forces. In the first video studied, there is a moment when a flash grenade exploded behind him. Against the background of the explosion, it is clearly visible that he did not lower his hands towards the fighters of the SPBT Almaz, and there were no explosive devices in his hands. The second flash of a flash grenade behind him shows that he is still moving with his hands up.
After the second explosion, one of the SPBT Almaz fighters, armed with an unidentified weapon equipped with a laser designator, fired the first shot at Aliaksandr Taraikouski. The shot ended in a miss.
As established during the investigation, at this moment, Mikita Karovin takes a position with the Saiga-12K carbine and begins to aim at Aliaksandr Taraikouski carefully.
Aliaksandr Taraikouski continues to move with his hands up. A third stun grenade exploded behind him.
At this moment, in the foreground of the video, the explosion of the Zarya-2 "M" special means takes place, the light effect of which made it possible to accurately determine the moment of the shot in several videos from different angles and to highlight the SPBT Almaz fighter, who in a split second fired a shot at Aliaksandr Taraikouski. Thus, the information of anonymous sources was confirmed, which is not possible to disclose at the moment, but which led to the killer's identification.
Aliaksandr Taraikouski gets a bullet in the heart area, and it turns him to the right side. He is still on his feet. But a wound to the heart is guaranteed to be incompatible with life. The video shows dark, thick blood; apparently, the ventricle with venous blood was affected.
Another fighter of SPBT Almaz continues to accompany the target with a laser designator, preparing to fire, if necessary, finishing off the victim. Mikita Karovin is closely watching Aliaksandr Taraikouski dying.
The second video allows you to determine the circumstances more accurately. In particular, it allows you to be sure that Aliaksandr Taraikouski could have heard an order from law enforcement officers to stop movement or a warning, but, judging by this, it was not done. This video also allows you to accurately identify the fighter of the SPBT Almaz who fired the shot.
It was found that the distance from the employee of SPBT Almaz to the shooter at the time of the death of Aliaksandr Taraikouski was about 10.5 m.
The weapon from which Aliaksandr Taraikouski was killed is the Saiga-12K carbine, developed on the basis of the Kalashnikov assault rifle. This carbine is in service with SPBT Almaz. This is confirmed by other videos in which, during the investigation, it was possible to track this fighter.
Time from the moment of the shot until the fall of Aliaksandr Taraikouski was about 10.45 seconds.
Established facts
During the preliminary investigation, the following facts were established:
1) A shot at Aliaksandr Taraikouski was fired from a distance of about 10.5 meters.
2) The shot was fired from the Saiga-12K self-loading rifle. It's Russian production, developed on the basis of the Kalashnikov assault rifle.
3) At the moment of the shot, Aliaksandr Taraikouski was standing with his hands up. He was in absolute visibility of the SPBT employees and did not pose a danger to them.
4) Employees of SPBT Almaz could verbally convey any order to Aliaksandr Taraikouski at that moment.
5) Mikita Karovin's shot was aimed. Before firing a shot, the SPBT Almaz fighter went to a position convenient for a shot, aimed at the area of the heart of Aliaksandr Taraikouski, and only then fired a shot.
6) Based on information from the doctors' report at the first examination, Aliaksandr died a violent death. The bullet hit the heart.
7) Aliaksandr's death was almost instantaneous. This can be seen in his actions when he was still on his feet. After the shot, Aliaksandr stayed on his feet for only about 10 seconds and then fell.
8) In the course of the investigation, it was recorded that Mikita Karovin and other, at the moment, still unidentified employees of SPBT Almaz repeatedly used firearms without reason against civilians.
Conclusions
On August 10, 2020, near the entrance to the Pushkinskaya metro station, at the intersection of Pushkin Ave. and Prytytskaha street, at about 23.00, an employee of SPBT Almaz Karovin Mikita Yurjevich, born in 1993, with the complicity of others not identified at the time of completion of the preliminary investigation employees of SPBT Almaz, murdered Taraikouski Aliaksandr Valerjevich, born in 1986.
The established facts allow us to assert that the shot at Aliaksandr Taraikouski was made purposefully and deliberately, with unmotivated cruelty and a cynical understanding of the shot's consequences. Mikita Karovin, being a professional, should have been perfectly aware of his actions. In view of his professional duties, he absolutely knew that a shot from such a distance, aimed at the heart area, would lead to death.
The Belarusian People's Tribunal considers it right to delay the next phase of office work for a short time in order to record the reaction of the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian public to the results of the preliminary investigation and, based on this, choose a strategy for further actions in this case.
